My marionette-making workshop was the most fun I had during my visit to Prague! Everyone at Czech Marionettes was incredibly welcoming and encouraging. Lucy helped me to put the puppet together while another artist helped me to mix the paint. I love how it turned out! I wanted to do something different yet quintessentially Czech while I was here and this was the perfect choice! If you like arts and crafts and friendly people, you’ll enjoy this workshop. Sadly marionette theater performances are disappearing from Prague. But the talented people who carry on the traditions and artistic crafts are still here and they will gladly introduce you to this wonderful tradition.

Nice little doll, especially for the younger ones (4+ kindergarten age) us. I think they would enjoy putting it together under the supervision of a parent or adult. Especially dressing and decorating it. You can also move the face in any direction with stick-on eyes or a push mold shape. Please note the supplied copper wire on the playing wood. For hurting the body and eyes ... especially for the youngest.

Hands down, the best experience I had in Prague! I got a first hand look at what goes in to making a marionette! These people are so talented! Then I got the chance to make my own little guy. Lucie was so kind, patient and helpful! She helped me when I needed it AND gave me independence to work on my own, while letting me know, if I made a mistake, we could fix it. She encouraged me through the whole process. I love my new little friend. Not only did I get an experience, but I have a special piece of Prague to bring home with me. If you come to Prague and want something special, you must do this!

Lucie did a great job explaining step-by-step how to put the marionette together, and then we had creative freedom to paint them how we wanted to. Lucie was patient, helpful and friendly. Tip to dress warm if it’s a cool day- we were in a workshop on the lower level.

It’s an interesting design. I like that it folds up, but when it’s set up open and extended enough to get the puppet off the ground, it doesn’t feel stable and needs quite a bit of floor space. And it didn’t come with the wing nuts needed to hold an in-between length of extension.

I ordered a marionette directly from them and the item arrived in about 2 and a half weeks to Florida which is really good. The packaging did rip on the top of the box and it was open. It didnt effect the item though, it arrived in perfect condition. They took the time to bubble wrap all of its limbs and extremeties. The craftsmanship is perfect.

So disappointed because this shop was so friendly and helpful at the outset. I waited 6 weeks for delivery. The stand was delivered in only a thin paper mailer. My mail carrier said the US PO had put it in an exterior plastic bag and rubber banded it. When I opened it, I found a gouged and scratched wood base, 2 steel rods, and the hanger. No protective wrap of any sort. Just bare wood and steel in a paper envelope from the Netherlands to the States. No directions were enclosed. The shop refunded half the price. Then I took my puppet to the stand, and the stand is the wrong size despite detailed specs and photos 6 weeks ago. So I guess it will be another 6 weeks to receive the correct parts. 5 more weeks. Still no parts. Unbelievable! Thousands of excuses. 4 months later. Wrong parts sent again. Right parts promised.
